Consistent winter for steelhead on Lake Michigan streams

NEWAYGO -- My first cast was a disaster, less than halfway to my target, a current seam just off the far bank of the Muskegon River.
But my second cast was perfect; I dropped my flies right on the edge of the seam and just a few seconds after they began drifting downstream,
I felt a fish nail my offering.
Our drift boat had not been on the Pere Marquette River for more than a minute when guide Jon Kolehouse rowed past two wading anglers whose fly rods were fully bent, each hooked to a large fish. A few moments later...
"I consider Jon Kolehouse THE ONLY bright spot in my
otherwise 30 plus year career of steelhead penitence. He's
a skilled outdoorsman, angler, cook and also an enjoyable
companion on the water."....
